‘Roadside Ditch’ 10×8 pastel on board

Also on the way to Dillon–so much moisture this spring the greens are a little surreal…

This was my painting setup for this one–a pastel box I made (which needs more development) and the Ducati tripod, which was running great…

  1. Yo. Ben. Doug Moench here, happy purchaser of a Bitterroot Lite. Have been toying with the idea of getting back into watercolors, busted out the BL to see how it might work for watercolor sketching and went to your site. Never knew you were a motorcyclist… a Duc no less. Shoulda known…. all the cool guys ride. Anyway, I’ve always wanted to get out on my BMW R1150Gs and pack the pochade box… someday. But I thought I’d share a link to a method I use to mount my cameras and video cams on the GS, using it as a “tripod.” Here it is:http://f-rider.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Motorcycle-Gear-Apparel-etc/Photo-Mount/Top-Box4/93285795_TVhdE-M.jpg

Might not be of much use to painters but what the heck. It works well for “hero, I was here” self portraits. Like this one:

    • Hey Doug, cool little setup–I think something like that would work great. A heavier tripod head, mount it to the hard case, off to the races–look forward to seeing you out painting on your GS!
